1. Remember Mentors are there to help and are to be courteous, friendly, inclusive and professional in their interaction with Newcomers and other Residents. We are never rude, even if others are rude first.
2. To be fair to everyone, Mentors accepted to the group do need to be active at the Welcome HUB. We know there will always be times when you will not be able to do as much as you would like to do. We are flexible about this and all we ask is that you let your Mole team leader know. If you become inactive in the program for too long or without contacting us first you may be removed from the mentoring group but you will be most welcome to rejoin it later when you are ready to get on board once again! Our suggestion to feel included is around two hours per week.
3. There will be training sessions that you must complete regardless of whether you have completed Mentor training in the past or not. In the case of face to face training there are multiple sessions offered in order to accommodate everyone's schedule. Again, to be fair to everyone, if you do not complete the required training sessions in a timely way, you will be removed from the Mentor group. We also hold various voluntary Mentor Meet-ups to explore topics such as how to communicate better and how to deal with difficult situations you may encounter. Your mentoring journey with your colleagues will be ongoing in terms of sharing experiences, building the Mentor community, methods of helping, finding support, developing our interactive skills and community understanding.
4. Please keep in mind that this is a volunteer position. You will not be paid for mentoring, but you will receive a lot of thanks and the knowledge that your efforts are helping sustain and grow this world which we all love so much! Helping others feeds the soul!
5. Please remember Mentors cannot solicit for tips either directly or indirectly.
6. To be easily recognized by Residents, you need to wear your group tag. Your Mentor tag should only be worn while actively mentoring at your designated location. Also remember your appearance, profile and behavior need to reflect a General (G) maturity rating when at the Welcome HUB.
7. Mentors are required to use the Second Life viewer. Most Newcomers will be logging in with the Second Life Viewer. The Newcomer tutorials at the Welcome area are also provided with the official Second Life viewer in mind. We ask that our Mentors use the Official Second Life Viewer and have intimate knowledge of it so they may be more efficient and able to help them. We do not ask Newcomers to download any Third Party Viewer.
8. In case of issues with Residents or Mentors, the Mole team leaders will have the final decision.
9. Application does not automatically guarantee acceptance.
