Wear sturdy shoes, weather-appropriate clothing (this site is quite windy), and bring a reusable water bottle. Water, snacks, and all necessary equipment will be provided. No prior experience is needed and all are welcome!
Meeting location: 38°14'31.1"N 121°47'14.3"W (Robinson Road, Rio Vista). The work site is located behind a locked gate--we will meet at the gate at 9:00 and caravan in to the site. If you are running late, please call Rachel 515 865 1065 to be let into the gate. This event is in collaboration with the Solano County Water Agency and we will be joining PCC's OneCreek restoration technicians for this planting event.
Peterson Ranch is former grazeland that Solano County Water Agency purchased and is restoring with native wetland and upland plants with the goal of supporting pollinator species, creating habitat for burrowing owls, and creating a mitigation bank for a state water project. This project will build on a pollinator planting done by PCC volunteers, OneCreek technicians, and staff with the help of SCWA staff in Fall 2022. We will be planting plugs of species such as yarrow, milkweed, wooly sunflower, gumplant, coyote mint, phacelia, mugwort, evening primrose, and goldentop as well as larger containers of mulefat, cottonwood, and oaks into pollinator plots.
Please do not attend any PCC volunteer event if you have had a COVID-19 exposure or are experiencing any COVID or cold/flu symptoms. For any questions about this event please contact Rachel Snodgrass (rachel@putahcreekcouncil.org) or Nicolle Herr (nicolle@putahcreekcouncil.org).
