** CHARITY APPLICATION CLOSED FOR 2023 BOSTON MARATHON **

** STILL ACCEPTING RUNNERS WHO HAVE SECURED THEIR ENTRY THROUGH QUALFYING OR INVITATIONAL"

Thank you for your interest in running with Team End ALZ for the 2023 Boston Marathon®!!! Team End ALZ is proud to be an official partner of John Hancock in the Marathon Non-Profit Program. The Non-Profit Program provides over 1000 Boston Marathon bibs to select non-profit organizations throughout the community.

Team End ALZ is comprised of charity runners, time-qualifying and invitational bib entries. If you have secured a qualifying or invitational bib please be sure to select your intended participation type below.

Running the Boston Marathon for a charity is a big challenge and commitment, but we will be with you every step of the way and will do everything we can to coach and support you, ensuring you cross both the Boylston Street and fundraising finish lines!  We look forward to reviewing your application, thank you for choosing the Alzheimer's Association as your marathon cause!

APPLICATION & TEAM SELECTION PROCESS:

1) All applicants will be notified of their status via email in late October. During the application review time you may be contacted if we need more information or clarification about application answers.

2) We have a very limited number of race entries. They will be assigned based on responses to questions on the application. Each application is personally reviewed by staff and considered individually. Key elements in the application include reason(s) for wanting to join the Alzheimer’s Association team and your personal fundraising goal and plans. Tip: Thorough answers increase your chances! :)

3) Team End ALZ alumni are evaluated on past fundraising results and demonstrated success, as well as adherence to the fundraising deadline during each season of participation.

4) A waitlist will also be selected. If a team member withdraws from the team by the cancellation deadline (January 5, 2023), a waitlisted runner will be invited to join the team. If you are waitlisted we encourage you to start training in December to stay on pace with the training schedule so you are ready to join the team.

5) Applicants with their own official marathon entry (from the B.A.A. or other invitational source) will be accepted onto Team End ALZ upon confirmation of race entry.

TEAM REQUIREMENTS:

1) The required fundraising minimum for each team member awarded a charity bib is $10,000. The suggested fundraising minimum for those with a qualified bib or other invitational bib is $3,000.

2) A credit card is required from each team member with a charity bib to confirm the roster spot.

3) $3,000 (or close to it) of the charity bib fundraising minimum must be reached by January 18, 2023.

4) Each charity bib runner will have two required fundraising strategy meetings with the Team End ALZ Manager between December and March.

5) The final fundraising deadline for all team members is May 7, 2023.

6) Any balance due to meet the required fundraising minimum for charity bib runners will be charged to their credit card on file on May 8, 2023. Fundraising tracking/billing is based on the amount posted to each participant’s fundraising webpage on May 7, 2023. Reversal of balance due will not be made for contributions posted or received to a runner’s personal webpage after the fundraising deadline.

7) If selected to the team, all runners will be required to pay a $375 registration fee to the B.A.A. by their set deadline. This payment is separate from your fundraising and does not count towards the fundraising commitment, nor is it tax-deductible. Team End ALZ does not cover this fee.

8) If you live within an hour of Boston, it is expected that you attend the weekly Saturday training runs with the team. Reasonable exceptions are allowed of course, but your participation is strongly encouraged.

Per the Boston Athletic Association, all runners MAY be required to show a negative COVID-19 test result or proof of vaccination in order to participate in the 2023 Boston Marathon. Race entries are non-transferable. Failure to meet this potential requirement does not release charity runners from meeting the fundraising minimum. As of now this is not a requirement but is subject to change. Team End ALZ will notify all runners as soon as any changes or requirements are announced. *
