American Blacks:The Power of Representation

You are being asked to to participate in a research project investigating the extent to which family history and date/decade of an one's arrival (or one's family's arrival) to the United States, and the region from which one (or one's family) originated, influences the current political, social and economic worldview of adolescent and adult Americans who self-identify as Black. The goal of this study is to learn about internal variety in a population (my own population) too often viewed as monolithic.

Consent Form

This study is being conducted by Sacred Heart Academy junior, Cayla Midy, under the direction of Dr. Stephen Sullivan, the school's Director of Science Research. This study has been approved by the school's Institutional Review Board, and follows all ethical guidelines established by the Association for Psychological Science and the American Psychological Association. Completing this survey poses minimal risks to participants. However, if you experience discomfort in answering any of the questions, you are free to withdraw from the study at any time.Your participation in this study will be a valuable contribution to the understanding of the role self-representation plays in how Blacks of different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds view various aspects of modern american life. All information you provide will be kept in the strictest confidence and your identity will not be connected to your results in any way.
