Below you can see the Field Trips that the ACT Athletic and Student Activities program offers for the Fall 2019. All Activities are listed in chronological order. Your Sign Up order is determined by the submission of the Google Form.
You can get additional information and pay at the office of Athletic and Student Activities (room 100- New Building, 2310 398 228, email:sports@act.edu).
A detailed trip itinerary will be sent to all who register, a few days before each trip.

Halkidiki Beach day, Sep.21 & Sep.22      
A  day  trip  to  a  beach  in  Halkidiki  with  an  organized area with beach chairs, café and restaurant.   The   area   has   been   awarded  a  “blue  flag”  of  excellence  for  the  clear  water  and  nice  beaches.  Bring your swimsuit, change of clothes, towel & money for snacks and refreshments. No fee. Includes bus, beach chair & umbrella, a soda or iced tea or coffee.  The NUin team will be assigning your trip date.  Enjoy!
Sailing trip, Sept.27-29, cost  350,00 €
This is a 3-day sailing trip in the clear blue waters of Halkidiki. No  previous sailing experience is required - each boat has a professional skipper. Relax, explore the beaches and harbors, and enjoy living on the sailboat. You can also take an active role in handling  the boat under the skipper’s watchful eye and direction. The excursion will start and end in Thessaloniki. Cost €350,00 includes: 3 sailing days, 2 boat overnights, food supply, Professional Skipper. NO MORE SEATS AVAILABLE
Mt Olympus day hike, Sep.28 & 29, cost 30,00 €.
A day hike on the picturesque northeast slopes of Mt. Olympus. Four hours of moderate walking through “Enipeas” canyon. Sturdy shoes required. Bring snacks, water and money for lunch.
Mt Olympus Weekend Hike, Oct.5-6 & 12-13, cost 75,00€.
We will spend the weekend hiking  on Mt. Olympus – at 2918m/9577ft  high, Greece’s famous mountain rises  dramatically from the sea up towards  the sky. Day 1: We will drive from Thessaloniki  to Prionia (1100m) for a 3-hour hike up to the refuge (2100m) where  we spend the night. Day 2: We make the strenuous hike up to the “Muses Plateau,” passing  just under the peak of the mountain. We will return to Thessaloniki  in the late afternoon hours. Note: the hike is demanding; there is no  technical training required, but you must be fit. (Cost 75,00€ includes: Transportation, Lodge accommodation with breakfast, mountain guides). PLEASE NOTICE THAT THE OCTOBER 5-6 TRIP IS ALREADY FULL.

Archeological Museum of Thessaloniki, Saturday Oct. 5
The permanent exhibitions of the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki include unique masterpieces of ancient Greek art dating from prehistoric times to late antiquity. Limited participation to 30 persons. You will meet your faculty/guide (Ms. Daphne Lamprou) at 12 at the Museum entrance. ACT ID required. No fee involved.
Canyoning, Sep. 28, 29, Oct. 5, 6, 12, 13 & Nov. 2, 3 cost 60,00€
Day-trip to the canyons of Mt.  Olympus: we will travel our  way down the river by abseiling, scrambling, floating, swimming  and jumping off small waterfalls. The trip will be guided by a professional Outdoor Activities  team. Cost €60,00 includes: Transportation,  equipment, snack, picture CD. Limited participation to 14 person per day. Please check only 1 of the below dates. AVAILABLE DATES ARE Sep.29, Oct.13 & Nov.2 & 3.

Scuba diving, Sep.29 & Oct.12, cost 80,00€.
Few things can leave you spellbound. Scuba diving is one of  those. Explore the magic of the underwater world, take courses leading to PADI certification,  and more. Cost 80,00€ includes: Transportation  to diving center in Halkidiki, Diving  equipment, 30’ lesson, 40’ dive (beginners 15ft, advanced/certified 60ft),  Diving instructors, Pictures in CD, Light   meal. Byzantine Museum of Thessaloniki, Saturday Nov. 2
The collection of the Museum of Byzantine Culture numbers more than 46,000 ancient (until 1830) movable monuments and works of modern and contemporary art, which date from the 2nd up to the 20th century. The artifacts mainly come from Thessaloniki and Macedonia, from churches or other public and private buildings. Limited participation to 30 persons. You will meet your faculty/guide (Ms. Daphne Lamprou) at 12 at the Museum entrance. ACT ID required. No fee involved.
Ioannina cave and Meteora monasteries, Oct.12-13 & Nov.16-17, cost 100,00€.
A weekend trip to Epirus and Thessaly to visit the 1200m-long “Perama cave” with its stalactites and stalagmites. We will stay overnight  in Ioannina, a magnificent historic town centered around a beautiful  castle and lake. The next day we will travel to visit the medieval monasteries of Meteora in Thessaly. Built by monks and religious orders  during the middle ages, these impressive structures sit precariously  at the peak of very high, finger-like rocks which rise up abruptly from  the valley floor. Cost 100,00 includes: Transportation, Accommodation in Ioannina (5*) with breakfast, Ioannina/  Perama cave visit, Monasteries visit, School escort/guide.

Pozar Hot Springs - Nov.17 & 24 cost 30,00€
A day trip to the Thermal (Medicinal) Baths of Pozar (near the city of Edessa). Pozar has natural hot springs which maintain a constant temperature of 37oC. Visitors arrive from all over Greece to delve the beneficial properties of the mineral-filled waters. You can choose to swim in the large outdoor hot pool, the hot waterfall along the river or several different indoor pools. Bathing suit recommended. Cost 30,00 includes: Transportation to  Pozar – “Loutra Arideas”, entrance ticket to the pools, visit of the Edessa Waterfall.

Rafting, Sunday Dec.1, cost 70,00 €
A relaxing rafting descent in the crystal clear waters of Venetikos river (easy ride, ideal for beginners).The boldest of the group can enjoy a refreshing swim in the cold river waters. The cost covers transportation, equipment for the activity and a light lunch-snack.
