This application is for the Student Health Advisory Committee, the liaison between the University of Maryland student body and the University Health Center (UHC). We are excited that you are interested in being part of SHAC for the 2024-2025 year. The application is open until 11:59 PM on March 15th, 2024. After reviewing applications, we will email qualified applicants with an invitation to interview with us.

The Student Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) serves as the student voice at the University Health Center (UHC). SHAC contributes to internal quality management procedures at the UHC, collecting and interpreting patient satisfaction data in order to make informed recommendations to increase patient comfort at the UHC. In addition to SHAC members serving on internal UHC subcommittees, SHAC members also conduct outreach, activism, and advocacy to promote health and wellness of the student body. Past notable examples include assembling and offering free oral hygiene kits at the campus pantry, coordinating the availability of free emergency contraceptive at the UHC and hosting various health and wellness events across campus. We are proud to have a multi-disciplinary team of undergraduates working on initiatives from diversity, equity, and inclusion at the UHC to physical health and prevention. With mentorship from the Health Center staff, SHAC is eager to continue work to build a campus where everyone can be empowered to be healthy and thrive.

- Meet the University Health Center Immunization Requirements by within a reasonable time frame that will be shared with you upon acceptance.
- Participate in an August 2024 mandatory University Health Center orientation and training (in-person)
- Attend required weekly meetings on Tuesdays at 5 pm in the Health Center and office hours during the 2024-2025 school year
- Adhere to the conduct becoming of a Student Health Advisory Committee member
