Schooling at Alert Level 3
As advised yesterday the Govt has announced that as of Midnight Monday April 27 we will move to Alert Level 3. Under Alert Level 3 there are two key public health principles. These are to:
1. Minimise the risk that someone gets infected in the first place
2. Limit the number of possible contacts people have if they do get infected to make it easier to rapidly stop further spread.
Therefore the advice under this Alert Level is for people to continue to work and learn from home if at all possible. You should only physically send your child to school if you need to because you (or someone else) can not look after them during the school day.
At this time it is planned we'll at Alert Level 3 for two weeks - with the Government reviewing this decision on May 11.
DNI is, therefore, preparing to be able to receive a small number of students from Wednesday 29 April however we are awaiting guidance from the Ministry of Education before providing further details to you about how this will work.
In order to ensure the safety of those children and our staff who do come to school, we will be operating with strict enforcement of health and safety measures. We are still expected to maintain physical distancing on site and so we need very specific information from you in order to plan for this.
All students, whether at home, or at school, will continue to learn in the same format we've been using for the past week. Students attending school will not be experiencing classes as they are used to, but rather will be supervised to do the same work as their peers who are working from home.
At this time we are also not able to confirm that school will run from 9-3pm - we need to understand how many children we are expecting, and what the health guidelines stipulate before we can confirm the plans.
