Introduction

The Jewish value of Gemilut Hasadim/גְּמִילוּת חֲסָדִים, or “the giving of loving-kindness,” refers to charitable activities. Edot community members can now apply to Edot for small monetary awards to help in times of crisis.

As part of our Edot planning for the next five year period, we are reorganizing, reallocating funds, and fundraising for new Edot initiatives and programs. Part of our funds redirection will go toward the creation of a relief fund for our community. We believe that this strategy will increase our overall impact.

Process

Community members can use the form below to apply for relief funds totaling up to $2500 per 12-month period. The number and total amount of awards per calendar year will be based on funds availability.

Requests will be accepted on a rolling basis.

Award decisions will be made with input from Edot advisory board members and Center for Community Stewardship staff, using information that has redacted names of applicants and other easily identifying information.

Monies must not be used for illegal activities, or activities that otherwise do not align with the Edot approach and Edot’s values.

Requesters will submit proof of need before funds disbursement.

There is no limit to the number of requests that a community member may submit. Funds will be awarded according to fund availability and pending advisory board and Center for Community Stewardship staff review.
