PROGRAM RUNNER APPLICATION 2024
Thank you for your interest in returning to the Summer Gifted and Talented Program (SGAT) at Dominican University as a Volunteer Program Runner! Summer Gifted alumni are eligible to apply as Program Runners to earn community service hours for High School, and to develop practical work skills, effective leadership, communication, teamwork and organizational skills; strong references and meaningful resume building work experience; as well as self-confidence and valuable friendships.

As successful graduates of SGAT, Program Runners are an esteemed group of role models and student leaders, welcomed back to campus to serve as classroom and program helpers, responsively “running” all over campus to assist teachers with class needs and lesson preparations; to welcome and escort students to class, PE, early dismissal, or assigned campus facilities; to help sort and distribute class supplies, program t-shirts and tote bags; to staff the Gifted Office to assist students and teachers as needed; and to help organize, greet and host each weekly Open House Friday on campus as we welcome families to their child(ren)'s classroom.

We are so excited to return to the campus we know and love!

Please indicate your available or preferred SHIFTS below: *
Detail any scheduling conflicts (such as specific days/times you cannot be available during selected weeks). Comment below as specifically as possible, or N/A if not applicable (i.e., you can work as selected): *
Why are you interested in being a Program Runner? (additional prompts: What will our learning community gain from your service as a Program Runner/What do YOU hope to gain in this experience?) *
Please list any volunteer/leadership experience, or work skills you may have such as computer skills, retail/customer service, general office experience, babysitting experience, girl or boy scouts, 4H, etc. Previous work experience is NOT required (only a willingness to assist and a motivation to serve): *
As a Program Runner, you are expected to serve as a student role model and leader at all times, still abiding by, and gently reinforcing, the SGAT Honor Code throughout the program day. While there is plenty of fun serving as Program Runners, professionalism is mentored and expected because horseplay on campus cannot be tolerated, and can directly affect our ability to be welcomed back to Dominican University.
HONOR CODE
We are guests of Dominican University and our presence on campus is a privilege. As members of the Summer Gifted and Talented learning community, we uphold our Honor Code by respecting ourselves and others. We respect our space on campus and keep the University’s facilities clean and quiet! If you notice any mess or disorder, then please tell your teacher and help to clean up or quiet down immediately!

Mistakes happen all the time
How we choose to respond
Reflects the strength of our character
And the depth of our compassion.

As a Program Runner Applicant, I agree to abide, uphold, and reinforce the Honor Code for all members of the Summer Gifted community, including myself and my fellow Program Runners. *
