Intergenerational Housing and Care Survey
The sudden closure of the Slayton Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in May 2019 left locals scrambling to find new homes and services for parents and loved ones. To address this gap in housing and service needs, a group of concerned citizens, led by Lynn Johnson, created a new nonprofit -- Operation Prairie Venture (OPV) [www.operationprairieventure.org].

OPV's mission "is to build innovative services and spaces for older adults that enable all generations to live and thrive in a vibrant community." To fulfill this mission will require the feedback, leadership and energy from a wide-range of people in Slayton and beyond.

Operation Prairie Venture continues its efforts to address the gaps in housing and service needs, and is asking for your thoughts. Please take a few moments to answer the following questions.

Planning Partners
In March 2020, Lynn Johnson, on behalf of the OPV Board, asked the City of Slayton for support. The City Council then agreed to provide funding to work with the Southwest Regional Development Commission (www.swrdc.org) on strategic planning efforts. In June 2020, Molly Malone authored a grant proposal that OPV was awarded with the University of Minnesota Extension's Southwest Regional Sustainable Development Partnership (SWRSDP) to work on planning efforts. With the backing of the city and the support of SRDC and SWRSDP, Operation Prairie Venture continues its planning to address the gaps in housing and service needs. The results of this survey will inform the design of Operation Prairie Venture.
