We, the following community members, parents, educators, students/alumni, and stakeholders of GUSD, support the Glendale Teachers Association's efforts to secure a settlement (contract) dating back to 2020. In order to attract and retain the best educators, GUSD needs to agree to a fair wage increase without compromising working conditions. It is time for GUSD to withdraw its proposals that would remove guaranteed daily planning time from secondary teachers; that would remove flexibility in work schedules for elementary teachers; that would disenfranchise certain groups of educators when voting on waiver ballots; that would require athletic coaches to participate in unpaid trainings during their personal time; and that would limit vacation time flexibility for aftercare teachers. GUSD students deserve to be taught by teachers who feel respected and valued by their district leadership.
