Dear SMCS Families,
 
As we recently announced, based on questions, concerns and support from families, we are building a K-12 virtual option for students and families with compromised health conditions and students capable of working well independently for the 2020-2021 school year.
 
SMCS will offer the following two options for the 2020-2021 school year:
1. Students back in school all day / all 5 days
2. Students participate in a full virtual environment
 
SMCS will NOT offer a hybrid approach (some in-person and some virtual) as an option to families.

The virtual option will be available for the entire school year. There is the opportunity for virtual learning students to return to in-person learning. Families wishing to return to in-person are encouraged to contact the building principal to determine the re-entry plan. Students who begin the school year in-person will have the opportunity to move to the virtual platform at any point in the school year. In the best interest of student emotional and academic well-being, with the exception of student illness, we will limit the amount of individual transitioning between learning options.

In the event that a student is quarantined, we will continue their educational experience through the virtual learning option during that time period.

Virtual students will still have access to student services such as counseling, as well as career counseling for the high school students. Students attending virtually will also be able to participate in our co-curricular activities.

Due to the programming for early childhood, we are only offering the in-person model for preschool and 4K. Because of this, the virtual education option will be offered to families beginning with kindergarten.
 
In order to prepare properly, parents/guardians will need to choose a learning model by Wednesday, August 12. Please complete this form by Wednesday, August 12 for EACH student in kindergarten thru grade 12.
