Intro to Herbalism Intensive
This is the 2023 application for a three season, 135-hour weekend herbal program exploring health, resilience and the plant world. The program is led by Michelle Soto, Jocelyn Kirkwood and Vilde Chaya Fenster-Ehrlich.  Our dates for the 2023 program are: 3/18-3/19, 4/22-4/23, 5/20-5/21, 6/24-6/25, 7/22-7/23, 8/26-8/27, 9/23-9/24, 10/14-10/15, 11/4-11/5. Our classes are a mixture of in-person outside classes,  online Zoom classes and prerecorded content. Attending in-person classes via Zoom is always an option- we want everyone to be able to access the program.

Please fill out each question with a full and robust answer (though we have marked some questions as optional, so don't feel compelled to share anything that you'd rather not).  We will follow up with you via phone or email after your application has been processed.  Please note a $300 deposit is due by 2/1/2023.

****** Logistics ******
We will spend time outside (walking, standing and sitting all for periods of time) on plant walks, gardening and lectures, sometimes in cold, hot, rain, snow, or sun. What would make these activities more accessible for you?  Do you have concerns about going on plant walks, sitting in class for several hours, participating via Zoom, or any other part of the course?
Do you have a car? Are you comfortable being in a car for up to two hours (for field trips!)? (Carpooling may be available if safety permits.) *
Will you be able to wear a mask and socially distance during in person classes and abide by any safety guidelines set up by instructors?  See our current COVID safety guidelines on our website. *
Will you be able to make all of the scheduled class weekends? *
Handsome certificate of completion will be dependent on satisfying 135 class hours.
Will you be able to dedicate time outside of the class weekend to complete homework (listening to podcasts, reading stories, doing research, etc)? *
Payment
Tuition is $1800, which is nonrefundable. We require a $300 deposit by 2/1/2023. Note that there will be some additional out-of-pocket costs, including gas money, medicine-making supplies and books.

There are some scholarship positions for indigenous people, people of color and trans and non-binary folks. In our work as white herbalists, we strongly believe in taking steps to address the patterns of colonization and white supremacy in our herbal practices, and to help bolster the many forms of resistance to the systems and structures of oppression we live under. This includes trying to make this course more accessible to BIPOC and trans folks.
