ABOUT: Established in 2013, the CIVIC Leadership Institute, Old Dominion University, and Tidewater Community College collaborated to create the CIVIC Scholars Program which focuses on civic engagement, professionalism, and leadership. The program seeks expose students to a culture of civic engagement, engage them with the challenges and opportunities within the community, help them develop an understanding of how to enact change, and prepare students for their careers in the professional world post-graduation. We envision a future where the next generation leaves their college career with the knowledge, desire, and network to enact innovative change in Hampton Roads.

The program runs through the academic year. The program year for Class of 2024 will begin in mid-September of 2023 and run through April 2024. Members of the CIVIC Scholars Program participate in a opening and closing retreat, monthly programming sessions, and unique class-based experiences, which include community service days, one-on-one professional mentorships with executives and community leaders, and more!

NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Freshman, Sophomore or Junior standing for the 2023-2024 academic year
- ODU student OR TCC student
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Ready to commit 4-5 hours to the program per month, from September to April
