2023: Adornment Application

Join Adornment Stories Collective for a FREE 8 week peer support circle via zoom and in-person, led by Black community based movement specialist and therapist.

Moving Our Stories allows for a non-clinical approach to mental health that is not focused on illness but centred on increasing participants' access to tools, skills, and coping mechanisms. Moving Our Stories merges movement modalities with Black mental health. Historically and currently Black communities have used movement as a tool to tell stories and connect with the community as we decrease isolation and increase our wellness.

If you are seeking a safer space to explore your wellness practice, discover new tools for wellness and move your body from the safety of your home, this session may be for you!

Catering to Black women, femmes, non-binary folks and gender diverse identities, between 20-29, Moving Our Stories offers a space to explore topics such as collective care and understanding the support networks in our life, narratives and the impact of the stories we tell ourselves, naming our experiences and intersectionality as well as building a wellness plan, led by therapist and social worker Tracy Owusu-Gyimah. Our movement sessions include various forms of dance and engagement styles.

“I don’t want to move when I feel pressure and pain. I was able to move without pressure, that felt liberating. It was about being aligned with my body.”   - Somatic movement workshop participant, 2021

If you are looking for a circle of peers to discuss and develop your wellness modalities with while also learning a movement practice at your own pace.

We look forward to holding space for you,
Adornment Stories Collective
