Thank you for your interest in the Early College High School Academy program at Akins Early College High School in Austin ISD for the 2021-2022 school year! We have three pathways to choose from: General Studies (Associates), Real Estate PTECH (Associates), and Tomorrow's Teachers PTECH (Associates). Our pathways are designed to provide you, the student, with skills and competencies in a wide range of subjects. PTECH is focused on a career in Real Estate or Teaching. While at Akins, all of your college courses will be FREE – free tuition, free transportation, free textbooks! All college classes are dual credit and happen during the school day. This application is for students seeking to join the Akins ECHS program in the Fall of 2021. To be eligible, the student must currently be in the 8th grade. We have a limited number of slots as this is a competitive program. If necessary, students may be placed on a waiting list.  

Students in the PTECH pathways (Real Estate or Teaching) will experience career-focused training in those fields, be a part of industry excursions and field trips, and work with Austin-area experts in those careers. The goal of PTECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High school) is innovative open-enrollment high schools that allow students least likely to attend college an opportunity to receive both a high school diploma and a credential and/or an associate degree. The hallmark of the P-TECH model is its career focus and the provision of work-based education.
