Teen Blackout Poetry Contest
April is National Poetry Month. To celebrate, the Cumberland County Library is holding a contest for teens to submit original blackout poetry. Blackout poetry is a mixture of poetry and art made by taking discarded pages from a newspaper, magazine, or book, and blacking out the unwanted words to create a poem.

Teens ages 13-18 are invited to pick up a Blackout Poetry Kit at the library beginning April 1. Kits will contain materials for creating poetry, as well as complete rules:

All submissions must be original.

Teens may submit up to three images each.

Entries are due by 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 24th and can be submitted by emailing an image of your Blackout Poetry to the library. An email address will be provided to you after you register.

When emailing your image please include "Teen Blackout Poetry" in the subject line.

Winners will be announced April 30.

Registration is required. Please fill out the form below to register.
