The Pride Advisory Council Application Form
In 1994 the Pittsburgh Zoo became a private non-profit organization, owned and operated by The Zoological Society of Pittsburgh which is governed by a Board of Directors. A young professional advisory committee was launched in 2018 as an affinity group aimed at fundraising for and promoting the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium’s mission to ensure its continued success for future generations. Each individual brings unique talents and abilities to the agency that are very much appreciated. In support of the Zoological Society of Pittsburgh’s mission, The PAC accepts the following responsibilities and duties:
1. Support the Board of Directors and the broader mission and goals of the Zoological Society of Pittsburgh through advocacy, networking, fundraising, and volunteerism.
2. Attend a minimum of four (4) council functions including one fundraising event and one student/class activity per year.
3. Support The PAC in achieving their annual goals by facilitating the identification and/or procurement of resources for the agency via in-kind donations, participation in fund-raising events, donor visits, help with foundations, etc.
4. Volunteer at Summer Safari unless excused by the President.
5. Support the Zoological Society of Pittsburgh with a personal financial contribution of $60 made annually for the entire length of membership.
6. Review and abide by the Zoological Society of Pittsburgh’s Conflict of Interest Policy and Procedures.
7. Attend retreat/training annually, if scheduled.
8. Timely communication and responsiveness are critical. Members are required to promptly respond to meeting and event requests with an RSVP.
9. Work in good faith with fellow members and staff toward the achievement of The PAC's goals.
If you are interested in joining The PAC please fill out and submit the application below. The Membership Committee meets quarterly and reviews the applications on a rotating basis. Once they review your application a Zoo staff member will set up an interview with you.
