9:30 AM - "Hats off to the Ladies" with Sandra Pineault
A review of "The Women's Hour" by Elaine Weiss
It is late July, 1920, and men and women from all over the nation have gathered in Nashville, Tennessee,  to help ratify, or defeat, the 19th Amendment giving women across the nation the right to vote. Thirty-five states have already ratified, and Tennessee could provide the necessary thirty-sixth vote to bring passage of it.  Meet Carrie Chapman Catt and Sue White as they come together to Nashville to support ratification, and Josephine Pearson who is doing everything in her power to stop it, convinced it will bring the moral ruin of the nation. Learn how bribes, dirty tricks, betrayals, bourbon, bigotry, and the Bible were used to influence the outcome. In six weeks in July and August, the actions of those gathered in the Tennessee capitol and the Hermitage Hotel will change the history of a nation.
