2024 Junior Counselor Application

We are constantly striving to cultivate a supportive community of mentors that encourage campers to be their own heroes, support them in their creative endeavors, and allow them to think differently about limits that may be placed upon them by our society.

By volunteering for camp, you can help actualize our mission by becoming a strong, positive mentor for girls, gender expansive, and transgender youth.

Camp Dates: 
July 29th - August 2nd, 2024
Showcase on August 3rd location TBD

The Jr. Counselor position is open to volunteers ages 18 and 19. The position runs from 9 am to 4 pm, M-F during the week of camp.

Jr. Counselor will be expected to perform a variety of tasks such as preparing food, moving and assembling equipment, and hanging out with campers.  They will also have opportunities to form a band and perform at the final showcase, if enough Jr. Counselors! 

To be considered for a camp Jr. Counselor role, each volunteer must:
> Participate in a phone interview 
> Attend one Required Volunteer Orientation session (TBD)
> Review the Volunteer Manual (updated every year)

NOTES:
Girls Rock Detroit will follow Covid-19 guidelines and safety protocols.
After submitting your application, you will hear back from us within 7 days with a decision.

REMINDERS:
*Remember... musical experience is NOT required to volunteer at camp.
