IMPORTANT: Please do not to sign up or show up for this volunteer maintenance outing if you have any signs or symptoms of illness of any kind, not just COVID symptoms, or if you have been in contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 within 7 days of the outing.

Date/Time:    June 24, 2023  9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Meet Time/Location:       Meet a few minutes before 9:30 AM. at the large turnaround opposite the oil storage tanks, immediately north of the Spout River bridge in Aquaforte.    Google map to parking area 

Carpooling and ride sharing will be facilitated. Please wear a mask if sharing a ride with another occupant.

Registration in advance is required. You cannot register on-site at the meeting location.

Specific maintenance area is determined in advance and discussed with you at the trailhead. The outing may include activities such as brushing, trimming, carrying slash, fire pit remediation and water bar clearing. No experience is needed to volunteer; training in East Coast Trail standards will be provided at the beginning of the outing. Hand tools, such as loppers and pruning shears, will be used and will be provided by the East Coast Trail Association. Hikers must be prepared to hike at least 3 km (approximately 1 hour) while carrying the tools assigned to them.

For your protection from scratches and cuts, wear long sleeves, long pants, and work gloves. Please wear trail rated footwear: hiking shoes/boots or rubbers. 

Bring a small backpack to carry your lunch, snacks, water or other liquids, tissues, and any other small items you may need on the trail.

Bring antiseptic wipes and/or hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol-based and your own face mask.  Eye protection, such as glasses, sunglasses or safety goggles are required. If you do not have your own glasses or goggles, the East Coast Trail Association will supply them, as well as a first aid kit and training.

Be prepared to hike at least 3 km while carrying tools. We will be back to our vehicles for return transport by 3:00 p.m.
