The Undergraduate Research Symposium at UMSL is a professional-style venue for undergraduates to present their original mentored investigations or creative inquiries to faculty, staff, administrators, students and visitors, inclusive of all UMSL undergraduates, regardless of discipline or project.
Students are expected to present materials that are held to the professional standards of their discipline, as determined and supervised by a faculty sponsor. Barring extreme examples, it will be the faculty sponsor's responsibility to oversee and approve final versions of a student's contributions to the URS. Be sure to contact your faculty sponsor before submitting this application.
Broadly speaking, there are two options for how you may present. You may either give an oral presentation or a visual presentation (more information below).
There may be multiple authors on a single project, but in those cases, please have the first author submit a single application for the group.
There is no cost to students to participate. The potential cost of printing a poster ($80) is covered if students follow submission guidelines.
The information you submit here can be tentative and changed later. This form is to signify your intent to participate so that organizers can start planning the event. All participants and faculty sponsors will be notified of acceptance and follow-up details after application is received.
Final information (title, abstract, authors, and poster file, if applicable) will need to be submitted to the UMSL Institutional Repository Library (IRL) by April 9, to accommodate for faculty approval and time to print a large quantity of posters and program booklets before the event.
