The Florida Association of Area Agencies on Aging recently announced a new community initiative in collaboration with Ring to help older adults maintain their independence and quality of life as they age. Ring, whose mission is to make neighborhoods safer, is making a monetary contribution and donating over 1,000 Ring and Amazon devices, including 50 Ring Video Doorbells and 50 Echo Show 8’s, to each of the 11 Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) throughout Florida.

The Ring Doorbell is a front door security system that is activated when a visitor presses the doorbell button on your Ring and you receive a notification on your smartphone. The video doorbell also tells you when it detects motion outside your door. Additionally you can also receive a live view of your porch and can speak with guests to give instructions or let them know you're coming to the door. Ring doorbells connect to the internet using Wi-Fi and are battery-powered, making installation easy. 

The Echo Show is a mountable device designed to act as a hub for users to see things such as upcoming calendar appointments, to-do lists, digital sticky note reminders, and shopping lists. It’s also an excellent kitchen TV thanks to the addition of the Fire TV interface. It is capable of doing everything other Echo displays and speakers do, thanks to the presence of Amazon’s smart voice assistant Alexa. This includes playing music, showing weather reports, streaming video, controlling smart home gadgets, and telling jokes.

Recipients must be 60 years or older, have high-speed Wi-Fi internet and a mobile device able to download and run the Ring App.
