Tiki Terror Virtual Gallery Application
The Artist Lodge Presents:

Tiki Terror
Online Art Gallery
October 2nd - November 6th

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, The Artist Lodge has decided to transition their events online for the foreseeable future. We successfully completed two virtual galleries during 2020, and we are excited about the opportunity to continue to grow and develop this gallery format. If you are interested in seeing what our previous galleries looked like, you can view them at theartistlodge.com, under the Galleries menu.
If you have any suggestions on what else we can do to develop this gallery, please feel free to reach out to us at marissa@theartistlodge.com. We’re all still learning and doing our best to make these galleries as successful for our artists as they are in person.

*PLEASE NOTE: This is an APPLICATION and NOT an ACCEPTANCE to the gallery. Should you be accepted to participate in a gallery, you will be sent a PDF copy of this application to sign and return to The Artist Lodge via email.

Please read the following information carefully before submitting your response.

THEME:
o The theme of this gallery is TIKI TERROR. This is an open theme, but your works must include major tiki and halloween elements.

APPLICATION ACCEPTANCE:
o This is a juried gallery, and The Artist Lodge team will review every application. Please make sure that all portfolio and website links are up to date. Applications with broken links or no website/portfolio will automatically be rejected from the gallery. Instagram can count as your portfolio only if it is regularly updated.
o We will be using your website/portfolio/Instagram to jury your application. Should you be accepted we will be basing it on the style/medium you work in the most. (For example, if you post mainly sculptures on your portfolio, we expect that a majority of the work you submit will be in a 3D sculpture medium.) The Artist Lodge reserves the right to refuse artwork that does not meet our expectations/the quality or standard of work created by the portfolio that you submit.
o If you are accepted as a gallery participant, you will be directly emailed by the Creative Curator Marissa Suto or an Artist Lodge team member to notify you of your acceptance. We will include a copy of this application for you to sign, and that will become your gallery contract. Your spot as a gallery artist will not be reserved until we receive your signed contract via email and your entry fee payment.
o Due to an overwhelming amount of artist applications, we do not email those that are not accepted to the gallery.

POLICIES:
o All art must be related to the theme, so please make sure the theme is clear in your work. Please note that all Artist Lodge events are FAMILY FRIENDLY. We will NOT be accepting artwork that includes graphic or crude imagery, violence, or nudity. If you have a question about whether your piece or concept would include any of these, you may email The Artist Lodge at marissa@theartistlodge.com to discuss and get approval.
o Please make sure that all submitted artwork is YOUR OWN. We will not be accepting artwork that is a direct replication of another creator’s characters or art. If you choose to create “fan art” please make sure it is created by you in your own style and is not a direct replication of another creator’s characters or art. We also will not be accepting artwork that has been stolen from another creator. If we discover that you have stolen or directly replicated another artist, you will not be allowed to participate in the gallery, will not receive a refund of your entry fee, and you will be BLACKLISTED from participating in any future Artist Lodge events.
o All artwork submitted MUST REMAIN EXCLUSIVE TO THE GALLERY FOR THE DURATION OF THE EVENT. You MAY NOT sell artwork created for this gallery while the gallery is online, and the gallery shop is open. If and when your artwork 100% sells out in the gallery The Artist Lodge will reach out to you and let you know that you may begin selling the work on your own.

ENTRY FEE:
o There is a $20 non-refundable entry fee for this gallery. This $20 fee covers the artist for up to five pieces. If you are selected for the gallery, you will receive a Square invoice via email that you can use to pay the entry fee.
o CONTRACT SIGNATURE AND PAYMENT ARE DUE WITHIN 7 DAYS OF RECEIVING YOUR ACCEPTANCE.
o If you are unable to make your payment within 7 days you will incur a $5 late fee. If you do not wish to pay the late fee, you will be dropped from the gallery.

CANCELLATION:
o Please confirm your schedule before committing to this show. Your $20 (or $25 with the late fee) entry fee is non-refundable.

ORIGINAL ART SIZE:
o Maximum art size is 10x12”
o If you have an idea for a larger piece that you would like to do, please contact Marissa to discuss. We may be able to accommodate your piece, but you must get it approved first. Even if you create a larger piece of artwork, your work must remain within the pricing restrictions. If you create artwork outside of the maximum dimensions without approval, your artwork will not be included in the gallery.
o ALL ORIGINAL ARTWORK MUST BE BAGGED AND BOARDED WITH A BUSINESS CARD AND READY TO SHIP IF PURCHASED. If your artwork is not individually bagged and boarded when delivered to the gallery you will incur a flat rate $8 packaging fee to cover the cost of the gallery’s packing materials and time. This fee will only be included if your unpackaged artwork sells. The Artist Lodge is not responsible for any damages that may occur in storage or shipping during or after the gallery event.

ORIGINAL ART MEDIUM:
o ANY MEDIUM IS WELCOME! Printmaking, painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, whatever you’d like to do. Go forth and create.
o Any artwork submitted, no matter the medium, MUST be COMPLETED and DRY at the time of delivery to the gallery. We will not be accepting incomplete or wet artwork (paint, varnish, etc may not be wet or sticky).

VIRTUAL GALLERY ART
o ALL ARTWORK WILL NEED TO BE SUBMITTED DIGITALLY. Artists will be responsible for scanning/photographing their artwork and submitting a water-marked digital copy to The Artist Lodge for use on the gallery page and promotional postings.
o The Artist Lodge has the right to scan/photograph for use in the gallery and promotional postings if the images submitted by the artist are low quality or unacceptable for use.
o PROTECT YOUR ARTWORK. Please water-mark your work. Scans should be high-quality enough to look good on the website, but low-quality enough to protect your work should someone attempt to right-click and download the image from the website. The Artist Lodge is currently working on upgrading their website so they can install plug-ins that will prevents right-clicking, but there’s still the possibility of screen-grabs/shots.
o PNG is the preferred file type when submitting artwork. DO NOT submit .PSD files.
o If you do not submit digital files of your artwork, your work will not be included in the gallery.

ART PRICING:
o This is a price capped gallery. Our main goal is for you wonderful artists to sell your artwork. By setting a price cap and making art more affordable, we ensure that more of your work can find its forever home.
o For original traditional artwork: Price may not exceed $150
o For original digital prints: Price may not exceed $70
o The Artist Lodge retains a 30% commission on sales that happen during the gallery. The artist will receive an itemized receipt that breaks down the work sold and the commission rates when they are paid out at the end of the gallery.
o You have no obligation to price your piece and may instead mark it as NFS (Not for sale).
o If you submit a piece at a higher price and you don’t reply to any attempts made in contacting you for a change before the Art Card Deadline, your piece will be marked as NOT FOR SALE.

REPRODUCTION PRINTS:
o You may submit up to 15 reproductions of each of your pieces to be sold online during the virtual gallery.
o Maximum size for reproduction prints is 10x12"
o If you are working traditionally, this means you can submit 15 reproduction prints per original work of art you submit. If you are working digitally, this means that you will have 16 prints TOTAL including your “original.”
o ALL REPRODUCTION ARTWORK MUST BE BAGGED AND BOARDED WITH A BUSINESS CARD AND READY TO SHIP IF PURCHASED. If your artwork is not individually bagged and boarded when delivered to the gallery you will incur a flat rate $8 packaging fee to cover the cost of the gallery’s packing materials and time. This fee will only be included if your unpackaged artwork sells. The Artist Lodge is not responsible for any damages that may occur in storage or shipping during or after the gallery event.
o If you bring more than 15 reproduction prints, the gallery will keep 100% of the fund earned from those extra reproduction prints.
o Reproduction prints are due at the time the original artwork is submitted to The Artist Lodge.
o For artists making 3D artwork that wish to sell reproductions, please contact The Artist Lodge to discuss options.

FRAMES
o Because this is a virtual gallery you will not need to frame your artwork. If you still wish to frame your pieces you may, but we understand that with the current COVID situation it may be hard to find the frames you need. Unframed work will also cost less (and be easier) to ship.

ARTWORK SALES
o All sales will be conducted through The Artist Lodge page on the HumAlong Productions web store.
o All artwork submitted MUST REMAIN EXCLUSIVE TO THE GALLERY FOR THE DURATION OF THE EVENT. You MAY NOT sell artwork created for this gallery while the gallery is online, and the gallery shop is open. If and when your artwork 100% sells out in the gallery The Artist Lodge will reach out to you and let you know that you may begin selling the work on your own.

PAYMENT:
o All sales in the gallery will be conducted by Marissa Suto or a trusted Artist Lodge team member via The Artist Lodge page on the HumAlong Productions web store. Sales will include all original art and additional prints (if applicable), minus the 30% commission the gallery will retain.
o Marissa Suto will directly send you your profit via PAYPAL for the full amount of the purchase price(s), less the previously mentioned and agreed upon percentage that the gallery will retain. Your profit will be sent out within 15 business days after the conclusion of the gallery. If you work 100% sells out, you will be sent your payment sooner.
o The Artist Lodge agrees to charge the set price set by the artist for each item sold and will accept nothing less than the purchase price for the artwork unless otherwise agreed upon in an email.

PROMOTIONS:
o One of the requirements of being in this gallery is PROMOTION! The Artist Lodge can only do so much, but we’re happy to do it. However, we want to make sure as many people know about this gallery as possible – including your followers and fans! As you’re working on your gallery pieces, please take lots and lots of work in progress photos (WIPs). Use these photos to post about the show. Tag us on Instagram and Twitter @theartistlodge and we will repost them in our stories if your settings allow us.
o Please begin posting at least 2 months in advance of the show.
o When you post, don’t post your entire piece! We don’t want to give away the surprise of your piece before people come to the show and see it in person! Make sure you only post little sneak peeks of the work to entice them to “attend” the virtual gallery to see the completed piece.
o Feel free to use the following hashtags to advertise: #artistlodge #theartistlodge #supportlocalartists #supportlocalbusinesses #supportlocal #shopsmall #wip #artshow #artgallery #artistsofinstagram #artistsoninstagram #artistsofig #artist #art #artwork

FEATURED ARTIST
o Because this is a virtual gallery that will take place over the course of a month, we will be featuring one artist every day on our social media.
o We will send out an interview form that we will use to create our blog and social media posts. We will require a photo/self portrait of yourself that you will be able to upload into the form.
o If you do not submit the form, you will not get a featured artist post through our blog or social media, and we will pull a photo from your portfolio to use as your artist image on the gallery page.

ARTWORK DROP OFF:
o The Artist Lodge will begin collecting artwork a full month before the event, and will stop collecting artwork a week before the opening of the gallery.
o Artwork delivery can be done in one of two ways: 1) shipping to the gallery OR 2) dropping off at a secure lock-box. Due to the pandemic we will not be conducting any in-person drop-offs.
o Artists are responsible for scheduling their shipments or drop-offs with the gallery. The Artist Lodge needs a minimum of a 24-hour notice before any drop-offs occur.
o If you are shipping your artwork you are responsible for the cost to ship to and from the gallery.
o If you miss the drop-off deadline, your artwork will not be included in the gallery.
o If you are NOT selling any artwork in the gallery, you do not need to physically submit your artwork, but you are still required to provide the watermarked scan/photo of your work to the gallery.

ARTWORK PICK-UP
o Artists will have 30 days after the gallery closes to contact The Artist Lodge to set a pick-up date, discuss shipping, and to pick-up artwork. Any work not claimed within 30 days after the gallery closes will then become property of The Artist Lodge.
o If you are shipping your artwork, you are responsible for thee cost to ship to and from the gallery. For return shipping, The Artist Lodge will provide the dimensions and weight of the package and you can purchase and email a shipping label to The Artist Lodge.

PLEASE NOTE:
o The Artist Lodge is not responsible for any damages to art pieces or prints once they are received. Please check your work before your drop it off. The Artist Lodge is not liable if an item is stolen, damaged, lost in the mail, or if there is a fire, flood, or any natural disaster that damages or destroys the item(s). The Artist Lodge is not responsible for damages to art pieces or prints that may happen in shipping to or from the gallery.
o We reserve the right to refuse any items that we feel are not on point with the theme of the show, or of the highest quality. Please double and triple check all artwork that is to be submitted before doing so.
o By filling out and submitting this application, you are confirming that any and all artwork and prints that you submit are YOUR original artwork. All artwork sold in the gallery must be original work created by YOU.
o The Artist Lodge is not responsible for any copyright violations made by artists participating in their gallery. Should we be approached by any copyright holders, we will provide them with your contact information and your artwork will be removed from the gallery. Otherwise any contact information submitted (including and not limited to phone number, website, social media handles, etc) will remain private and for The Artist Lodge use only.
