Survey Regarding the Welcome of LGBTQ+ Individuals at Salford
(LGBTQ+ stands for people who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, and other sexualities and gender identities.)

Salford’s Welcoming Statement, adopted January 2016, says:

"At Salford Mennonite Church, we have journeyed for almost 300 years as a community working to faithfully follow Christ. We celebrate that all individuals are created in God’s image, in beauty and grace, no matter their age, gender, race, disability, ethnicity, or sexual orientation, and are welcome as members in our congregation.

"We call on all to:
 • Connect with us in worship of our Lord in a learning community of an Anabaptist tradition and if so willing,
 • Grow with us in fellowship, biblical study, baptism, communion, and
 • Serve in the work of Jesus, who instructed us all, 'For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' Our congregation adopted our current Welcoming Statement in January 2016. We as Salford Church board and staff are aware that differing understandings continue to exist among us about what this welcome means, particularly regarding LGBTQ+ individuals. We would find it helpful to have a more up-to-date reading of the range of convictions the congregation collectively holds.
This is not a decision-making document; it is a survey of personal convictions to guide future conversations. This survey will be distributed in various formats. We ask that each person complete the survey only once.
