Interpretation of Coagulation Tests for Postgraduates, Pathologists and Clinicians - Registration open for December 2021 Batch 2

Coagulation testing is useful for assessing ability to clot; for investigating the cause of a patient's coagulopathy; and for therapeutic monitoring of certain anticoagulant medications. There has to be a logical systematic approach and a discriminate use of laboratory investigations to reach the diagnosis and assess severity. Laboratory assessment of hemostasis presents many challenges for laboratories and the clinicians who interpret the results. This course aims to briefly explain the common tests used to assess hemostasis, as well as their clinical context, and provides a guide to assess cause of bleeding and clotting tendency.
Tentative topics included are:
● Quality control and automation in coagulation
● Lab investigation of coagulation system
● Lab investigation of fibrinolytic system
● Approach to a case of bleeding tendency
● Approach to a case of Thrombotic tendency
● Platelet function tests
Course will be conducted by Dr. Aarti Khanna Nagpal, a Hematopathologist with 14+ years of experience in the field of Hematology, flow cytometry, coagulation, Biochemistry and immunoassays. Dr. Aarti has done her graduation from Maulana azad Medical College and post-graduation from Safdarjung hospital. She has vast professional experience at leading organizations such as AIIMS trauma Centre and SRL Reference lab.
