NYC WBHL Registration - Summer 2022 Season

LEAGUE DETAILS

REGISTRATION:
-All players sign up as individuals
-Players can request to be placed in groups of 2 or 4 total for the league draft (this group number total INCLUDES yourself. For example, a player may request to be placed with 3 other players to make a group total number of 4; or a player may request to be placed with 1 other player to make a group total of 2). You will be provided the option to request a grouping for the draft and tell us who you’d like to be grouped with on the registration form. For complete details on requirements for group requests, please review the appropriate section on registration form.  Please make sure your group meets the requirements before making your request. PLEASE NOTE: Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee group requests but as always will try our best to accommodate.
-There will be a draft to determine teams. Teams are drafted by Captains. (Draft will not be made public.)
-Player eligibility: Open to women, trans women, and non-binary athletes* of ALL SKILL LEVELS, ages 21+.   (*There is no proof of gender identity registration requirements for athletes at this time. This policy was created for the 2022 Summer Season and is re-evaluated at the end of every league season.)
-Teams are drafted after registration closes

LEAGUE FORMAT:
-11 games guaranteed (10 regular season; 1 playoff game (all teams make playoffs))
-All teams play 2 games each game day during the regular season
-Season begins June 25 at Stanley Isaac Park dek Rink (96 E & 1st ave, Manhattan).
-EQUIPMENT
(REQUIRED) Players are required to wear helmets (with chin-strap) and padded 5 finger gloves. (We take player safety seriously and want everyone to be able to play-- if you cannot acquire a helmet pls. contact us. You can also check out mylec.com for their light-weight MK1 street hockey helmet at low-cost).
(RECOMMENDED) Face shields/cages for helmets are strongly recommended. Shin Guards are recommended.
-RULES: USABH Rulebook with (tbc) WBHNYC amendments
-GAME LENGTH: 36m

REGISTRATION FEE:
-There are 3 Registration Fee Tiers to choose from:
-Basic: $135 Registration fee (incl. Team shirt) only
-Silver: $145 Registration fee (incl. Team shirt), plus 3 raffle entries
-Gold: $155 Registration fee (incl. Team shirt), plus 10 raffle entries
-Players do NOT need to purchase a USABH registration.
-Fundraiser Raffle Prize: We will be raffling off 1 x "CTC Shaft & Abs Blade Package" from our friends at Coast to Coast Hockey Shop. Players purchase raffle entries by selecting Silver or Gold Registration Tier (The Basic Registration Tier DOES NOT incl. Raffle Entry). WBHNYC CODE OF CONDUCT
WBHNYC provides a fun and safe environment for the sport of ball hockey. We strive to expand participation in Ball Hockey, and ensure its values are upheld to make every player welcome no matter their background, religion, race, ethnicity, sexuality, or gender identity. Our codes of conduct are a promise of commitment that all ball hockey players, coaches, officials, fans, and associates will promote the sport with pride, dignity and respect towards all individuals.

Player’s Code of Conduct
● Play for fun and work hard to improve your skills.
● Be a team player and get along with your teammates.
● Learn teamwork, sportsmanship and discipline.
● Always be a good sport.
● Admit your mistakes when you make them.
● Respect your captain, your teammates, opponents and officials in public or in private.
● Read and be familiar with the contents of the USA Ball Hockey’s official playing rules and WBHNYC rule amendments before participating.
● Never argue with an official’s decision, as they are unlikely to change their mind and your conduct can be viewed as unsportsmanlike.
● Identify and call out and implement appropriate consequences for any hurtful language, hate speech, homophobic or racist language and behaviors; and commit to supporting all who wish to participate in ball hockey. WBHNYC has a zero tolerance policy for hate speech and associated behaviors of any kind.

Spectator’s Code of Conduct
● Display good sportsmanship. Always respect players, captains, and officials; do not taunt or disturb other fans; enjoy the game together.
● Cheer good plays of all participants; never viciously boo opponents.
● Admit your mistakes when you make them.
● Help provide a safe and fun environment; throwing any items on the playing surface can cause injury to players and officials.
You will be asked to leave the premises.
● Support the referees and captains by trusting their judgment and integrity.
● Be responsible for your own safety, be alert to prevent accidents from balls and other avoidable situations.
● Respect buildings, locker rooms,  benches,  as private areas for players, captains and officials.
● Recognize good effort, teamwork and sportsmanship.
● Identify and call out and implement appropriate consequences for any hurtful language, hate speech, homophobic or racist language and behaviors; and commit to supporting all who wish to participate in ball hockey. WBHNYC has a zero tolerance policy for hate speech and associated behaviors of any kind.

Captain's Code of Conduct
● Follow the rules and regulations of WBHNYC.
● Be an ambassador of WBHNYC values and demonstrate commitment to our mission.
● Be a positive role model to all of your players.
● Be generous with your praise when it is deserved; be consistent and honest; be fair and just; be constructive in your feedback and do not criticize players publicly; learn to be a more effective communicator; don’t yell at players.
● Never verbally or physically abuse others, particularly a player or official; give all players the opportunity to improve their skills, gain confidence and develop self-esteem; teach players the basics.
● Familiarize yourself with the rules, techniques and strategies of hockey.
● Maintain an open line of communication with your players’. Explain the goals and objectives of your team.
● Be concerned with the enjoyment and positive experience of your players.
● Identify and call out and potentially punish any hurtful language, hate speech, homophobic or racist language and behaviors; and commit to supporting all who wish to participate in ball hockey. WBHNYC has a zero tolerance policy for hate speech or behaviors of any kind.

Administrator’s Code of Conduct
● Follow the rules and regulations of WBHNYC
● Be an ambassador of WBHNYC values and demonstrate commitment to our mission.
● Support programs that train and educate players, coaches, parents, officials and volunteers.
● Promote and publicize your programs; seek out financial support when possible.
● Work to provide programs that encompass fairness to the participants and promote fair play and sportsmanship.
● Recruit volunteers, including coaches, who demonstrate qualities conducive to being role models to the youth in our sport.
● Make every possible attempt to provide everyone, at all skill levels, with a place to play.
● Read and be familiar with the contents of the USA Ball Hockey’s official playing rules and WBHNYC amendments.  
● Develop other administrators to advance to positions in your association.
● Ensure every program, tournament, team and league focuses on the inclusive nature of ball hockey.
● Identify and call out and potentially punish any hurtful language, hate speech, homophobic or racist language and behaviors; and commit to supporting all who wish to participate in ball hockey. WBHNYC has a zero tolerance policy for hate speech or behaviors of any kind.


Any other behavior deemed inappropriate will be reviewed by the WBHNYC officials and affiliates.

Our Code of Conduct encompasses the ways in which we expect all players, captains, coaches, spectators, and WBHNYC associates to behave. If a WBHNYC associate witnesses any behavior that goes against our Code of Conduct, the incident will be reported to WBHNYC Administrators who will discuss the incident with all involved parties and decide on any necessary repercussions.
