APPLICATION DEADLINE: 30 June 2021
The Open Bioinformatics Foundation (OBF,
https://www.open-bio.org/) hosts the Bioinformatics Open Source Conference (BOSC) every year. BOSC is a forum for developers and users to interact and share research results and ideas in open source bioinformatics and open science. Topics include software development practices that promote open science standards and sharing of biological data and code, as well as approaches for building diverse communities. This year’s meeting is a track of ISMB/ECCB 2021 online and will take place July 29-30. See more about BOSC 2021 here:

Thanks to funding from our sponsors (
https://www.open-bio.org/events/bosc-2021/sponsors/), we are opening a special call for applications to the **BOSC-OBF Event Support Fund**. This fund aims to increase participation of members from groups otherwise underrepresented in BOSC or in bioinformatics community events in general, including but not limited to underrepresented demographic groups (country of residence and citizenship), background (historically underrepresented and other minority groups), career stages, gender identity and expression, people with disabilities and members from low income/resource organisations.
A limited number of qualified applicants will be chosen to receive free registration for ISMB/ECCB 2021. This will not cover other particiaption expenses (for example, internet access or headphones). In this application, we ask you to describe your motivation for requesting free registration to BOSC / ISMB. This may include, but is not limited to, if you identify yourself from historically marginalised group(s), live in a low- or middle-income country, work in a low-resource condition or have other reasons not listed here.
**Important**: We will send code for free registration to the successful applicants, therefore, they should hold off on registering for ISMB/ECCB until they hear back from us.
Decisions will be sent out by **8 July 2021**. For more information, please contact the BOSC organising committee by emailing
