Speak up! We want to hear what YOU want in YOUR James Madison Park neighborhood.

In June 2020, residents organized and passed out a petition against a proposed luxury high-rise apartment building on 414 E. Washington. The petition received 365 responses and over 100 comments on what residents would like to see instead of the proposed development. After sharing these comments with the City of Madison, Planning Commission, and the Urban Design Commission, your voices were heard, and the proposed development failed to get enough votes at the Plan Commission.

This will NOT be the last new development proposed. In fact, another proposal along East Washington will be back on the table this fall. And that’s not all. Our homes are in high demand for redevelopment. Therefore, we want to build on what we started so that our collective voices are heard.

Your voice COUNTS. Residents of The James Madison Park Neighborhood are creating a document that all future development will be evaluated against. Below is a list of the priorities shared from community members.
