Dear Parents/Caregivers

Registrations are now open for the AJHS College  (Year 9 & 10) Volleyball season for 2021.

Details below:

There are two different opportunities for students to represent AJHS in college volleyball in 2021. Please ensure that you read all information as there are different costs and requirements for each option. We are still awaiting for some information so this will be updated as received.

OPTION 1:

COLLEGE A TEAMS (1 X BOYS AND 1 X GIRLS TEAM)
Entry into the following competition will be subject to player numbers and level of ability.
Students that don't get selected for the College A Team will be placed into the College B or C Team.

Regular Season Competition:
Volleyball North Harbour Super League Competition
 - Games played on Wednesday - from 4pm to approx 8pm, starting Wednesday 22nd September and played through until Wednesday 17th November 2021
Venue - AUT Sport and Fitness Centre or other venues to be confirmed

Tournaments:
Volleyball Junior Qualifier - Friday 10th and Saturday 11th September 2021 (Auckland)
Volleyball Auckland Junior Championships - Thursday 18th November to Saturday 20th November 2021 (Pulman Arena, Takanini)

Volleyball North Island Championships - Monday 22nd November to Thursday 25th November 2021 (Pulman Arena Takanini) Entrance into the North Island Championships will depend on player availability and this will be confirmed once teams confirmed) (Please note additional cost for this tournament are to be finalised)

COST: $250.00 per player (This covers the regular season competition, the junior volleyball qualifier tournament, the Auckland Junior Championships and a warm up shirt)
(A deposit of $60.00 is required by Wednesday 28th of July, with the remaining $190.00 due two weeks after the teams are finalised.

This cost does not include the Volleyball North Island Championships which will be additional.
If we are to take a team to the North Island Championships there will be an extra cost of approximately $500.00 per person. This cost will be finalised once we have all details but will need to cover transport, tournament entry, food, staff relief and admin costs.

OPTION 2:

COLLEGE B TEAMS ( As many boys or girls teams as we have the numbers for)

Regular Season Competition:
Volleyball Junior Season Details:
Boys - Games are played on a Wednesday evening with the competition starting on Wednesday the 20th October 2021 and continuing through to Wednesday 17th November 2021 approx. (Venue to be advised).
Girls - Games are played on a Thursday evening with the competition starting on Thursday the 21st of October 2020 and continuing through to Thursday the 18th of November 2021. (Venue to be advised)
Games are played anywhere between 4pm and 9pm for both competitions.

COST: $60.00 per player

REQUIRED UNIFORM -  AJHS Volleyball shirt (issued for the season) and AJHS PE shorts (or attire as confirmed by coach). All students must wear sports shoes.

TRAINING - Teams will have a minimum of one training per week, which will be held in the school gym either before or after school. Training days and times will be advised once teams and coaches confirmed.

TRIALS -  3.30pm to 5pm - Monday 9th August 2021 in the AJHS gym. (Depending on numbers additional trials will be required. Details will be advised at the conclusion of the first trial)


TRANSPORT - It is the responsibility of parent/caregivers to either transport their child to the games and trainings each week or to arrange for another parent/caregiver to transport them. The school does not provide transport for this competition. (They will assist with transport for the tournaments during the school day but may also require parental assistance)

COMPULSORY ADMINISTRATION FEE - $25.00 (One payment of $25 will be charged regardless of the number of sports played)

REGISTRATION CLOSING DATE - 9am Friday 30th July 2021

DEPOSIT DUE BY: - $60.00 due by 9am Friday 30th July 2021

For this length of time and at this level of competition each school team requires a coach and a manager.
As a coach you will be required to take a minimum of one training per week and also be available at the games. For team training's the school's facilities would be available for use before or after school. Standard training times are either 7.30am in morning or 3.30pm to 4.30pm after school.
Managers are required to organise the team, ensuring all players and parents/caregivers are aware of game times and trainings and also arranging for people to do duty at each game. Ideally the Manager will also attend games to support the coach and team.
For teams attending any tournaments - each team will require both a coach and a manager. Without them we will not be entering tournaments.
Without parent volunteers it is impossible for teams to participate in the competition so if you are available to assist with either role please tick the appropriate box on the form.

To ensure your child is registered for the college volleyball competition, please complete the following form and submit by 9am Friday 30th of July 2021. Please also ensure that deposit of $60.00 plus $25.00 Administration Fee is paid by this date.
For players selected in the College A team, final payment of $190.00 will be required two weeks after the teams are selected. If there is an issue with payment, please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss payment options.

Our preferred method of payment is by internet banking.  Please make payment to our school bank account:
123107 0017930 00 Please use VBC and your child's name as reference for payment.
Payment can also be made by cash, eftpos or credit card at student accounts.
