This form may only be submitted by a club director or club administrator, not by a player or parent.
The CEVA Region can grant age waivers for players who need to play in a younger age group due to their skill or development level, or due to having limited opportunities in their geographic area.
Age waivers are only valid within the Columbia Empire Region, at CEVA-sanctioned events. Teams with an age-waivered player who travel outside the region must notify the tournament director and seek approval for the player to participate. Age waivered players may not participate in the CEVA Bid Tournament, National Qualifiers (unless granted specific approval by the tournament), or National Championships. Younger players who participate in an older age division do not need an age waiver. Guidelines for the waivers include, but are not limited to, the following:
1) Age waiver applications must be completed by the club and approved by the CEVA Executive Director. Incomplete form submissions are not considered.
2) A team may have no more than two age-waivered players on the roster.
3) An age waiver will not be granted for a top team if a club has more than one team in that age level.
4) Players receiving a waiver shall not make an impact on that team. This means they should fall in the “average” to “below average” skill level on that team. CEVA has the right to revoke a waiver, at its sole discretion, should a player be disproportionately skilled or deemed a safety hazard.
5) Age waivers may be revoked should any part of the application be falsified or deemed misleading.
6) Age waivers will not be considered for athletes who have anything other than a full junior membership. Tryout memberships and single-event memberships must be upgraded prior to consideration.
7) Waivers are only considered for birthdays that fall between May 15th and June 30th.
8) A waiver being requested for a player to move two age groups down will be automatically declined. (Example - an 18s player requesting to be waivered to a 16s team will not be permitted.)
9) Exceptional circumstances may be considered by the CEVA Executive Director.
Age waivers are based on the team designation a player wishes to participate with. For example, an 18-year-old player who wishes to play on a 17s team must fill out an age waiver, even though that 17s team may play in 18s Power League.
Age waivers must be submitted by the club director to the CEVA office no later than 3:00 PM on Wednesday prior to a tournament they wish to participate in. Generally, once a player is waivered to a roster, they will be required to continue playing on that roster for the season, unless an exception is granted by CEVA.
Age waivers are not considered until after the player’s designated tryout date (i.e., a player defined as a 15-year-old will not have their age waiver considered until after 15-and-under players may legally start tryouts).
Please allow 48-72 hours for a decision on each waiver from the CEVA office, during a regular work week (does not include holidays or weekends).
Note – CEVA does not take responsibility for ensuring a player, upon approval of a waiver, appears on an AES roster or rosters in other tournament management systems. We can roster the player in SportsEngine only. Please communicate with tournament organizers or the support staff of the management company to ensure player is rostered appropriately.
