Budapest Central European Fashion Week (BCEFW) takes responsibility in encouraging the Hungarian and regional fashion brands presented during the event to be committed to the environment and to promote sustainability and ethical business practices throughout their operation.
Drawing insights from international precedents and best practices, BCEFW endeavours to pioneer a new opportunity for designers to show their dedication to sustainability, catalysing a shift towards a circular economy and emphasizing ethical conduct.
To formalize this initiative, BCEFW established a distinct categorization, ‘Conscious by BCEFW’, tasked with spearheading all future sustainability-related endeavours. This categorization will be exclusively conferred upon brands meeting the criteria outlined by BCEFW's Advisory Board.
The main objective is to elevate the prestige associated with obtaining the ‘Conscious by BCEFW’ categorization, thereby incentivizing both domestic and international designers to prioritize environmental and ethical considerations. Importantly, the initiative is not a certification or audit program, but rather a critical component of the application for brands aspiring to be featured at the event. The initiative also serves as a framework for the ‘Conscious by BCEFW’ categorization, where brands can additionally apply to be part of, by completing a specific form. The ‘BCEFW Conscious Selection’ is a dedicated part of the official schedule that collects and showcases the ‘Conscious by BCEFW’ brands.
This document serves as a comprehensive guide, encompassing all necessary questions and prompts for applicants to address. Subsequently, these responses and optional attachments should be consolidated within the designated 'Brand Details' document, which must then be uploaded through the specified 'Brand Application' form for submission. Following the application deadline, the Advisory Board will assess eligible brands for inclusion in the ‘Conscious by BCEFW’ categorization. Successful categorization will be highlighted on both the official BCEFW schedule and across BCEFW's website and social media platforms.
*Filling out the form is not mandatory, but optional for the brands applying to BCEFW in any category.
