Somatic Integrations: Somatic Foundations
Somatic Foundations is an 8-week 1:1 professional development course designed to offer a basic introduction to the field of somatics through a polyvagal-informed and justice-oriented lens, to cultivate practice-based modes of learning, and to look strategically at how one will apply and implement these learning into current or future professions.

Time Commitment
  • 8 weekly 1.5hr in-person somatic integration classes, (12 hours total)
  • 1 60-minute post-course follow-up phone call to be scheduled 4-6 months after last class (1 hour)
  • 1-4 hours of homework outside of class.  Homework may include readings, somatic skills practices, audio talks/videos, and themed explorations.
As a 1:1 course, the timing is dependent on our mutual availability.  Within the application, you'll state options for when the course could work for you.  Upon receiving the application, I will cross reference your availability with my own and propose a schedule.

I look forward to working with you.

Amanda

Please share any identity/positionality markers that you feel are important to name.
Positionality markers are parts of our identities that shape our lived and cultural experiences.  Though there is no "one" monolithic experience of life, we know that certain markers have shared experiences, particularly in cultures that value certain identities over others.  For example, the experience of living as person of color in the US is different than that of a white person.  Or, the experience of living as a man, is different than living as a woman, or trans or non-binary person.
How did you hear about the Somatic Integrations course? *
Tell me about your relationship to somatics.  What do you already know?  What are you most curious about?  Do you currently have any somatic practices? *
What is your current profession?  How do you imagine using this material in your work? *
Which sessions are you able to schedule the 12 hours within? *
A session is a period of time in which your course can take place.  In general, we aim for courses to meet for weekly for 8 weeks.  We will plan around scheduled absences (yours or mine) and also set up 2 back-up classes, to have a plan for unexpected circumstances.  There are a limited number of spots for each session, so please check which ones could work for you.  You can add any comments/preferences in the next section.

Anything else I need to know?
Thank you for your application.

Upon submitting, you'll receive a confirmation message that will give you a link to set up a 30 Minute Phone Call.
In this call, we'll make space to ask questions, get to know each other, and make sure we are a good fit for working together.  It's important to me that we both feel like I am able to support you in the specific of your profession and that we both practice "consentful acceptance" of the course.

Upon acceptance, and to confirm your participation, a $250 non-refundable deposit will be required.
Venmo: @amafranza (last 4 digits: 2629) Please write Somatic Foundations in the comment.

After the call, please expect 1-3 weeks for the scheduling magic to happen.
Why does it take so long?  Because the number of available spots are limited and the scheduling is specific to each person, it takes some time to map out folks availabilities and then puzzle together a coherent schedule.  Thanks for your patience.
A copy of your responses will be emailed to the address you provided.
