About the workshop:

TELL: A story-making and creative writing workshop for youth.

AGE: 11-16
Sept 18, 2022: 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM

This two-hour workshop, requiring only a favourite writing pen/pencil, notebook, and imagination, provides young people with a fun and engaging way to create their own 'telling' through the use of prompts, props, and playfulness. The focus will not be on spelling or grammar but on how easy language can be used to entertain, educate and engage, and the simple joy of accessing words to Tell a Tale.

About the facilitator:

BIO: Stacy Gardner has been facilitating fun, creative, and engaging writing workshops for youth and adults for more than 20 years, having spent a decade doing so at Covenant House in Toronto. Her workshops have also been facilitated for the Women's Works Playwrights Festival, St. John's Women's Council, and independently from her home in St. John's. Stacy produced and directed for the St. John's Short Play Festival, a TYP titled TELL in 2019, and also was the playwright of, After the Sirens, which was staged at the festival in 2018. Stacy's CBC radio play, Worms for Sale, was later adapted and staged at Toronto's Alumnae Theatre. Stacy has published poetry in various Canadian Lit journals, including ROOM magazine, for whom she reads/edits. Stacy is currently working on a short documentary film titled, The Gaze.
