This workshop is aimed at trampers and novice mountaineers who are looking to develop the skills necessary to look after themselves and a climbing partner on more serious terrain. The workshop will give participants the techniques to manage difficult terrain whilst out on an alpine journey.
During the workshop participants will look at using the rope in a variety of contexts to safeguard themselves in ascent and descent. The course does not teach crevasse rescue.
Equipped with additional skills and knowledge, participants can look to take on more adventurous tramping and easy summer alpine objectives with the knowledge of how to safeguard themselves on technical terrain.
