Tierra Madre Horse & Human Sanctuary has policies and procedures that focus on the safety and well-being of both horses and humans on the property. Please acknowledge that you are willing to follow the training and procedures that will be provided to you.

Tierra Madre Horse & Human Sanctuary permits volunteers to select the days they would like to volunteer. We have a monthly schedule so we can ensure we have enough volunteers each day to carry out necessary tasks. If you sign up for a specific day, we expect you to show up for your scheduled shift (with the exception of illness or emergencies). No-showing for a volunteer shift is grounds for termination of your volunteer agreement. Please confirm your understanding that if you sign up for a volunteer shift, you are committing to being present.

To keep up with our latest policies and horse safety 101 trainings, we require that volunteers complete a full shift at Tierra Madre a minimum of two mornings a month. Are you able to commit to this?

At this time, Tierra Madre Horse & Human Sanctuary does not require COVID-19 vaccinations of its staff or volunteers. However, we do require that any individual showing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, fatigue, difficulty breathing, sore throat, body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell) alert Tierra Madre management immediately and cancel their volunteer shift. Any individual that has tested positive for COVID-19 is additionally required to present proof of a negative test to Tierra Madre management prior to returning to volunteering.
