Rehearsals and Schedule:

West Georgia Winds rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoons.

Middle school rehearsals are from 1:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Carrollton Middle School in Carrollton, GA. Middle school rehearsals begin on Sunday, March 24th.

High school rehearsals are from 2:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA. High school rehearsals begin on Sunday, March 24th.

The Spring 2024 season concert is on Sunday, May 19th, at the Mabry Arts Center in Carrollton, GA. The middle school portion of the concert begins at 5:00 p.m. and the high school portion of the concert begins at 7:00 p.m.

All above dates are available on our calendar. Specific information regarding parking, arrival times, call times, needed materials, etc., will be posted via our newsletter.

Materials Needed:

1. Instrument in good playing condition. Percussionists are required to bring sticks and mallets.
2. Assigned music folder with all West Georgia Winds music inside.
3. Pencil with erasers to make markings on your music. NO PENS.
4. Accessories such as extra reeds, valve oil, etc.

No phones are allowed in rehearsal. Failure to obey this rule may result in dismissal from the ensemble.

Attendance Policy:

West Georgia Winds has a strict attendance policy. Students must attend all rehearsals for each concert cycle. If an emergency or unexpected illness occurs, please contact the WGW administration team at westgawinds@gmail.com within 24 hours of the missed rehearsal.

If a student misses more than one rehearsal in a season they may be dismissed from the ensemble. If a rehearsal falls on a school break, national holiday, religious holiday, or planned family vacation, please reach out to westgawinds@gmail.com to let the administration team know at your earliest convenience. Excused absences will not result in dismissal from the ensemble.

Students are expected to arrive early to every rehearsal to ensure that they are ready to go when rehearsal begins. Percussionists are expected to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the beginning of rehearsal to set up equipment. Habitual tardiness may result in dismissal from the ensemble.

Band Program Involvement Policy:

Performing members of West Georgia Winds must be involved in their school's band program, if applicable. Students who do not participate in their school's band program, either in class or after school, will not be eligible for membership in West Georgia Winds. If a student chooses to no longer participate in their school's band program, they will be subject to dismissal from the ensemble.

Tuition:

Tuition payments are payable via our website. Tuition must be paid in full, either by personal payment or by scholarship, by the final tuition deadline of the season. Spring 2024's tuition deadline is April 7th.

Safety:

All West Georgia Winds staff and employees are certified music educators in the state of Georgia. Care will be taken in every situation to ensure that your student is safe while prioritizing their education. West Georgia Winds will follow Carrollton City Schools' and the University System of Georgia's guidelines regarding severe weather, lockdown, and other emergencies. In the case of canceled rehearsal due to emergency, parents, students, and families will be notified by email and through our newsletter.
