What is JumpStart?
The purpose of the 2022 JumpStart Program is to introduce rising 7th grade and new 8th grade students to Lake Braddock. Students will have the chance to familiarize themselves with the layout of the school; including a tour of classroom locations, cafeteria setup, gym locker room layout (boys and girls) and much more! Our hope is to ease the transition into middle school as well as address positive study skills, time management and organizational skills. The JumpStart Program has been shown to aid in the elimination of any anxiety and fear that the first day of school may bring. During the program, future Bruins will have a chance to meet teachers and former MS students that help facilitate the program.
Students will be register for ONE of four (one day, five hour) sessions. Sessions will be offered during the week of Monday, August 8th through Thursday, August 11th from 9am-2pm at LAKE BRADDOCK SECONDARY SCHOOL. Each single day session will serve roughly 150 students. Spots will fill up quickly - first come, first serve! If max capacity is reached for your student's first selection for day of attendance, your student will be placed into their second choice of day.
Tentative Schedule for Jump Start 2022
8:50-9:00am: Check-In (Students will receive a colored nametag that designates which group they will rotate with for the day. This is a great way for students to meet other students from our feeder elementary schools)
9:00-9:20am: Welcome in Auditorium (Introduction of Principals, MS Administrative Team and Jump Start Staff)
9:25-10:05am: Tour of LBSS & Practice Opening Lockers (Rotation 1)
10:10-10:50am: Schoology Overview (Rotation 2)
10:55-11:35am: HOW TO Stay Organized/Time Management (Rotation 3)
11:40-12:10pm: PIZZA LUNCH PROVIDED!!!!
12:15-12:55pm: Bruin Ambassador Panel & LBSS Core Values (Rotation 4)
1:00-1:40pm: Layout/Information on MS After-School Program, #BruinsStayAfter (Rotation 5)
1:45-2:00pm: Closing Remarks and Dismissal
*each student will participate in all 5 rotations
THERE IS A $20.00 REGISTRATION FEE FOR JUMP START 2022
- Registration fees can be paid through MySchoolBucks.com (search "Lake Braddock MS Jump Start 2022"); the pay link for Jump Start 2022 will go live on 5/16/2022 for Jump Start 2022; I will send update email to all registered families
- There will be an End of Year Blackout in our finance department from June 17th until early July; no online payments will be able to be made during this time
- For any reason that you are unable to pay via MySchoolBucks, we will also accept payment by cash or check
- Checks should be made out to Lake Braddock Secondary School and any envelopes with payment submitted to the school physically or by mail should be marked with ATTN: Jamaal Hines, MS After-School.
