Dear Map Academy families and students,
Thank you to all who have provided input about about our reopening plans. Plans are moving forward and we're excited to welcome students back for the 2020-2021 school year beginning on Wednesday, September 9th. While things might change if public health conditions warrant, this survey will give you an opportunity to select a schedule preference for the fall that will work best for you.
While it remains Map Academy’s goal to bring all students back for full in person learning as soon as we can safely do so, we believe that it is in our school community’s best interest to move in phases toward full in person learning. We plan to begin the year with a hybrid model in order to ensure our ability to maintain a full 6 feet of social distancing and provide a safe and meaningful in person learning experience. It is our goal to offer students and families some level of choice about the schedule that will work best for them. For safety purposes, we need to create student cohorts, but it is important to our mission to maintain as much student/family choice as possible.
Our goal is to provide students/families with a choice of three schedules to start the school year:
Option 1: Fully remote -- Students will learn from home full time to start the year and will work remotely with their teachers to access the support they need throughout the day.
Option 2: In person 3 days per week -- Students will attend school in person on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and work remotely on Tuesday and Thursday.
Option 3: In person 2 days per week -- Students will attend school in person on Tuesday and Thursday and work remotely on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
*Please note: It is our goal to provide as much choice as possible. We will do our very best to honor the in person schedule preferences indicated on this survey and will communicate directly with each family and student with a final schedule and other reopening details in the next couple of weeks.
