The Classified-to-Teacher program supports aspiring educators to obtain their teaching credential or their Bachelor's Degree on their way to a teaching credential for Classified Employees (Para-Educator, Instructional Support Specialist, Newcomer Learning Lab Assistant, Early Literacy Tutor, Noon Supervisor, Custodial, etc.), Expanded Learning professionals, and Early Childhood Educators.
Credential support is available in one or more of the following areas (all could include w/Bilingual Authorization):
- Special Education, Mild/Moderate, Extensive Needs Education Specialist Credential (all areas)
- Single Subject Math, Science and English
- STEM
- Transitional Kindergarten
Requirements to apply:
- Participants must be a current OUSD classified staff member
- Be in school or applying to be in school at an OUSD-approved college
- Have a minimum of an AA degree or 60 undergraduate transfer units
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.67 or higher
- Provide contact information for two recommendations (one a supervisor)
- This completed application
