Skills and Interventions for Professionals to Identify Human Trafficking Survivors to Break the Cycle of Abuse and Neglect
This FREE workshop will be a statewide event held at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana, on November 20, 2019 from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. This professional development/training opportunity will include all professionals who work with complex trauma survivors, specifically human trafficking survivors, to enhance their skills and interventions for working with this population. The professional development/training will host a national speaker, Mary Vicario, who will provide skills and interventions for professionals working with this population. She will address complex trauma, how to recognize human trafficking survivors, and the effectiveness of specific interventions to promote resiliency and decrease the future cycle of child abuse and neglect. The event will include the adoption of a local agency, Metanoia Manor. In lieu of payment for registration, participants are required to bring an expressive art item upon entrance to the workshop (i.e., play doh, kinetic sand, markers, crayons, grounding tools, construction paper, stress balls, etc.) to be donated to the agency for survivors of human trafficking and child abuse and neglect. 6 FREE CE  hours will be provided via a certificate at the end of the workshop. This workshop is an NBCC-approved event.
