About the Project
As part of our ongoing commitment to support Golding Homes residents we are delighted to be working in partnership with Changing Minds Kent CIC, a Kent based wellbeing and training provider who support communities and workplaces lead a more active and healthier lifestyle.
Through our community investment support, we will be funding 30 FREE places available to Golding Homes residents to gain this accredited Mental Health First Aid award.
This FREE training will provide you with the skills and knowledge to help support others that may be experiencing poor mental health, and more importantly, learn how to communicate and provide support as well as manage your own wellbeing and self care.
We know that having a mental health problem can have a huge impact on an individual's wellbeing and bring huge personal costs. It can impact our relationships, our jobs, our physical health and much more.
This is one of the reasons Golding Homes is dedicated to help raise awareness around preventing mental health developing and how to provide our residents with the skills to help others.
We all have mental health and yet around 90% of us will still experience stigma and discrimination for feeling unwell.
At Changing Minds Kent CIC our community trainers will deliver accredited Mental Health First Aid training licensed through Mental Health First Aid England (MHFA) to empower local residents to ‘Talk more’ ‘Support more’ and ‘Listen more’

What is Mental Health First Aid?
We will be delivering two 1/2 day Adult Mental Health Aware courses (face-to-face) with one group aimed for ‘females only’ and one ‘open group' session.
For more information about what to expect from this training visit https://mhfaengland.org/individuals/adult/half-day/

Being a Mental Health Aware champion will teach you how to identify, understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue.
This workshop won’t teach you to be a therapist, but it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis – and even potentially stop a crisis from happening.
You’ll learn to recognise warning signs of mental ill health, and develop the skills and confidence to approach and support someone while keeping yourself safe.
You’ll also learn how to empower someone to access the support they might need for recovery or successful management of symptoms. This could include self-help books or websites, accessing therapy services through their GP, their school or place of work, online self-referral, support groups, and more.
What’s more, you’ll gain an understanding of how to support positive wellbeing and tackle stigma in the world around you.
