All Merton Parents, Guardians, and Teachers are welcome to get involved with the PTO; we appreciate your time & talents! There are opportunities to get involved at school AND from home!
Meetings are open to all and are held the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:00PM at the Intermediate School Learning Lounge.

MERTON PTO VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

There are SO many ways to get involved with the Merton PTO. Please check any and all of the boxes signifying you may be interested in helping with these specific areas.

The events & activities below are simply a starting point and what we have done / are currently planning to do. WE ARE OPEN TO YOUR IDEAS & SUGGESTIONS!

Events

Events are family-friendly and student-centered activities designed purely for enjoyment and community building. These events are not intended to serve as fundraisers; rather, they aim to create memorable and fun experiences for our students and their families, fostering a strong sense of community and school spirit.

First Day of School Event (Pastries in the Park, or similar)

Youth Nights (Fun social nights held at school for Intermediate Students, throughout the school year))

Fall Event ('Boo a Mustang', or similar, or your own idea!)

Winter Event (Gingerbread House Contest, or similar, or your own idea!)

VIP Dance (Kids invite their 'Very Important Person')

Spring Event ('Lucky Leprechaun', or similar, or your own idea!)

School Board Forum (Candidates are invited to answer questions from the community prior to the election)

Math Night (Fun activities/games to promote math skills)

Literacy Night (Fun activities/games to promote reading)

'Where in the Village' Treasure Hunt (Spring)

Staff Support

Staff Support efforts focus on providing assistance and appreciation to the dedicated staff at Merton Primary and Merton Intermediate. These efforts help boost staff morale and demonstrate our gratitude for their hard work and commitment.

Fundraising

Fundraising is dedicated to organizing activities and initiatives that generate financial support for our schools. These efforts are crucial in providing additional resources, enhancing educational programs, and supporting special projects that benefit our students and staff.

Mum Sale (sale of mum plants, held during the first weeks of school)

Raise Craze (fundraiser with community outreach, focusing on acts of kindness, Sept./Oct.)

Family Service Night (community outreach night as part of the Raise Craze fundraiser, Sept./Oct.)

Culver's Nights (or other restaurant fundraiser nights, throughout the school year)

Book Fair (typically in Fall & Spring)

Spring Fundraiser

Raise Right (online fundraising platform, throughout the school year)

The Communications team is responsible for ensuring clear, consistent, and effective communication between the PTO, parents, and the school community. This team manages newsletters, social media updates, event promotions, and other informational channels to keep everyone informed and engaged.
