If you would like to request a track change for the 2022-2023 school year, please provide the information requested below by April 22, 2022. All forms submitted by April 22nd will be given equal consideration. Completion of this form does not guarantee a track change will be granted. Track changes are limited by the availability of open seats, number of classes per grade level, staffing, and any year-round middle school siblings. Please keep in mind that there are class size laws that we must follow. The goal is always to keep the four tracks balanced to best meet the needs of all students.

Track assignments and balancing tracks is challenging at the best of times. This year will bring some new challenges. The total number of classes in each grade is likely to change because of the opening of Apex Friendship Elementary and increased callbacks to Olive Chapel Elementary, a school for which we are an overflow. We will also need to assign all current Virtual Academy students to in-person classes. Virtual Academy students returning to in-person learning are NOT guaranteed to stay on Track 4 and will be placed in classes where there is space. Families with current Virtual Academy students do not need to complete this form because a separate track request form will be sent out later to all current Virtual Academy students.

We expect that it could be late May before we have the information that we need to consider track change requests and to assign tracks to Virtual Academy students and new students. We know that this makes planning for next year’s trackouts difficult, but we need to know how many classes we will have on each grade level and how many teachers we will be allotted before making any final decisions on track changes. To comply with class size requirements, it is possible that some students will be asked to change tracks even if the families did not request a change. We will avoid such changes whenever possible. We are committed to keeping siblings on the same track.

The parent/custodian submitting this track change request acknowledges that both parents/custodians of this student are in agreement with this request being submitted. In cases where one parent/custodian has sole custody of the student, the person submitting this track change request acknowledges his/her legal authority to do so.

Note: Tracks 1, 3, and 4 all have approximately four weeks of overlapping summer vacation with traditional calendar schools, so it is unlikely that a track change related to calendar alignment with a high school sibling would be approved if your child is on one of these tracks. Also, we do not have the flexibility to approve track changes to align with family vacations or summer camps. We would love to give everyone the track that they want, but we just don’t have the space, staffing, and resources to meet our students’ needs when we overload tracks.

Special note for families without an assigned track: Our data manager, Mrs. Doherty, will be requesting your track preferences soon. Please understand that we can only assign students to tracks where there is space.

* You will receive an email by late May notifying you if your request was approved or not, so please do not contact us for updates before June.  
* Once a track change has been approved it will not be changed again during the 2022-2023 school year.
* There will not be a “waiting list” for track changes.
