STEM Ambassadors Application
Have you ever thought about working with students to help them learn about STEM concepts? Did you know that STEM skills are in high demand in today’s industry? Whether you want to be a teacher in the future or not, this program will prepare you with leadership skills for any future job! Even better, you can earn money while learning valuable skills.
You will come out of the program ready to work in our after school and summer programs with our students - in a paid position! This is also a great program and position to list on your resume and college applications.
What will you do?
1. STEM Ambassadors will begin to learn how to manage a classroom and engage youth in learning by participating in evening training sessions a few days a week virtual to start, but could be in-person on occasion.
2. STEM Ambassadors will learn maker and STEM skills that are important for their future, no matter what occupation they pursue.
3. Build your creative thinking, design and problem solving skills all while being mentored by caring and experienced Boys & Girls Clubs and Homewood Children's Village staff!
4. Get to meet new teens from across the region, have an impact in your community and have opportunities to go on field trips, company tours and more fun activities!
The Details:
Spend approximately 6 hours per week. Class will meet every Wednesday from 6:30 - 8:30 PM online. Other training hours will be a mix of virtual, offline, and in-person offerings not to exceed 6 hours total a week.
Receive a stipend for your time in the training
Be prepared for employment in one of BGCWPA or Homewood Children's Village programs
Gain interview and resume building experience, and other important career readiness skills
This exciting opportunity begins the week of March 1st - Training ends May 31st. Students will receive a monetary stipend for their time participating in training in 2 payments so long as they meet the minimum attendance requirements of 90% and demonstrate commitment to learning.
Participants must have at least 90% attendance to stay in good standing to be given an interview for potential placement in a paid position that starts in June.
