The Freedom of Information Act: A Cornerstone of Our Democracy

Bobby Talebian, Director of the Office of Information Policy at the U.S. Department of Justice, will provide an overview of the federal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), key resources available to help the public locate government information, and the process of submitting FOIA requests. He will cover tips on locating information that may already be public, using FOIA.gov (the government-wide FOIA portal and search tool), and considerations for making requests to federal agencies.
