Summer Qual Prep Survey
Hi! This is to collect some info to help plan make qual sessions a useful, efficient, and productive use of your time.

The proposed structure is the following: there are specific topics lined up for each week, and we'll have an initial meeting to look at the proposed schedule and rearrange or adjust topics depending on people's preferences. After that, we'll meet 1x per week for 1 hour and  proceed until just before Mock AMS (Aug 3-4).

After Mock AMS, we'll schedule at least one synchronous timed practice exam and (depending on interest) an overall summary/review session.

For each week, I will send out a PDF with 5-10 qual problems on each topic/area. We'll have a weekly signup sheet where at least one person volunteers to

A) Give a short talk on that topic, and/or
B) Present at least one solution.

With the remaining time, others can volunteer to present alternative solutions, solutions to other problems, or just discuss things.

Note on talks/presentations
Participating in the sessions can mean a lot of things:

- Working through your solution to a problem

- Giving a "talk" where you discuss the relevant material,

- Offering feedback/thoughts on others' solutions, or

- Just participating in discussion of strategies, techniques, etc.

All of these are useful and valuable, and it'd help to know which you're interested in and comfortable with!

Faculty Involvement
There are usually a number of faculty members that volunteer to be help for each qual area. This can mean many different things:

- Emailing them for help on specific questions,

- Having separate meetings with them,

- Having them join problem sessions to help with strategies, offer advice, or give feedback on proofs.

I'm happy to coordinate with faculty and arrange things, so just try to give me some idea of what you'd find helpful.
For students: what level of faculty involvement would you like? *
