Belchamp St Paul & Belchamp Otten Local Design Code Questionnaire
Thank you for taking the time to fill in this important questionnaire.

Your replies to this questionnaire will bring together our community’s views and, after a full public consultation, will help produce our Local Design Code. This questionnaire is a fundamental part of the process. Once our Local Design Code is completed, it will be adopted by Braintree District Council and the Parish Council as planning guidance.

Initiated by your Parish Council, our Local Design Code will:
  • describe the existing design and character of the buildings, landscapes, spaces and features of our villages
  • detail the aspects which are most valued by you, the local people, and which you wish to see respected in any new development or alteration
  • include practical ways to care for and enhance the character and values of our villages
  • represent the opinions of the whole community
  • be an advisory document for developers, designers, planners, and residents, and will form a material part of the planning process

Please keep in mind when answering these questions that planning applications will continue to be received within the villages. Our parishes must evolve in order to stay alive and the Local Design Code will influence the design and form of future developments and environmental improvements.
