VOLUNTEERS: 2nd ANNUAL MASSACHUSETTS JUNETEENTH GROWERS GIFT DRIVE
For the second year in a row MRCC is working with homegrowers and caregivers across Massachusetts to
gift an African American cannabis seeds, clones, seedlings for Juneteenth this year. This year MRCC will set up a community hub at the cookout. Many African Americans have lost family members due to the War on Drugs and systemic racism including the prison industrial complex and the police system. We aim to create a community hub where African American people can sit, eat, and connect with fellow African Americans to enjoy the holiday. Community organizers will be a part of the community hub and will distribute information on free resources for direct aide and policy CTAs on racial, healing, and transformative justice.

Ready to move in solidarity for racial justice? We are seeking volunteers to assist with set up and break down, transportation to pick up donation of cannabis plants and seeds across Massachusetts that will be directly gifted to African Americans on the holiday.

Why gift this holiday? Juneteenth is a celebration of the liberation of Black people that were enslaved in the United States. In Jan. 16, 1865 African Americans were promised 40 acres through Union General William T. Sherman’s Special Field Order No. 15, which was later overturned by Andrew Johnson in the fall of 1865. Not only did the U.S. government fail to uphold its promise, but continued to practice systemic racism and withhold land ownership opportunities from African Americans. Today in Massachusetts 96% of farmland is white owned. Nationwide 98% of farmland is white owned.
Growing is a human right. Access to land is a human right. It's time we move in solidarity for racial & healing justice.

African Americans have a rich history with seeds and plants, from adorning their hair with seeds while crossing the transatlantic slave trade, to incorporating seeds and plants into their artwork. The cannabis plant is a medicinal plant. Since legalization of cannabis racial disparities have increased up to 116x higher for Black residents vs white residents in MA. Its clear that legalization in Massachusetts doesn't apply to everyone based on their skin color. MRCC is encouraging homegrown culture to support safe spaces and affordable clean cannabis for the people who continue to be disproportionately harmed by the War on Drugs to this day. In Massachusetts every adult is allowed to grow cannabis. Up to 6 plants per adult, 12 plants per 2 adults within household for recreational use. GIFTING IS LEGAL. This year gift a clone, seedling, or seeds for Juneteenth. 100% of all donations will be directly gifted to an African American on Juneteenth 2022. Plants with terpenes that can assist with PTSD, anxiety, depression, panic disorder and all other symptoms of racial trauma would be greatly appreciated: bit.ly/juneteenthgrowersdrive
