Lifting as We Climb: OB/GYN Mentorship Program Mentor Application
2020 has been full of surprises and challenges — and those changes have extended to the residency application process. •••✨ If you are interested in mentoring senior medical students, please complete the form below. ✨ Mentorship matches will be announced on November 8th. ✨The responsibility of a mentor ideally should not overwhelm your current resident duties; it is an opportunity to pass down your recent insight to OB/GYN hopefuls. ✨ Loose guidelines and access to resources will be shared at that time once matches are made. ✨•••

What’s this all about?
We know the data regarding maternal morbidity and mortality rates for Black women in the United States are staggering. We know that a crucial strategy to combat the racial bias impacting these disparaging outcomes for Black women is to increase the presence of providers who are themselves, Black. And as residents in a challenging program, sometimes we need the support from each other to navigate this space and succeed.
•
The LAWC Mentorship Program aims to do just that: to empower Black women and men pursuing careers in OB/GYN and to be a network of confidence, resources, and experience — resident to resident. It’s a for us, by us method to facilitate success beyond medical school, with the ultimate goal of not just increasing matriculation rates into accredited US OB/GYN residency programs, but to ensure that while we are here, we thrive.
